Corrections for the Effects of a Radome on Antenna Surface Measurements Made by Microwave Holography

چکیده
AbstructMeasurements of the surface deviations of a parabolic antenna by microwave holography have been corrected for the effects of an enclosing radome. The largest correction, which is due to diffraction from the metal space frame, is made by using a model computed from the radome structure. This model accounts for the changing diffraction as the antenna is scanned during the interferometric mapping of the complex beam pattern. Correction for reflections from the radome panels is made by simultaneously measuring the beam pattern at multiple frequencies to provide delay discrimination to reject antenna side lobes generated by multiple reflections which arrive with delays different from that of the main beam.

Near-field ranges operate by measuring the electromagnetic field near the antenna and then mathematically transforming the data to any arbitrary location. Near-field operations are a form of microwave holography. The wave front measurements are normally made on a planar, spherical or cylindrical surface. This paper discusses primarily the planar configurations as used in the measurement of larg...
متن کاملGroove Gap Waveguide (GGW) H-plane Horn Antenna and a Method for Its Back lobe Suppression
recently a new structure called groove gap waveguide (GGW) is introduced to implement low loss microwave component devices especially for millimeter wave applications. This paper presents a new type of H-plane horn antenna making use of this new technology in which backward radiation is significantly suppressed by introducing a high impedance surface at the antenna aperture. The high impe...

This paper presents a new design of a CPW-Fed multi bands planar antenna. This antenna can be integrated easily with passive and active elements. The proposed antenna is suitable to operate for GPS, PCS and WiMAX bands. Its entire area is 52.3x52.6mm2 and is employed on an FR-4 epoxy substrate and fed by a 50 Ohm coplanar line. The antenna parameters have been analyzed and optimized by using AD...

This project addressed the analysis and design of a cryogenic microwave anisotropic wave guiding structure that isolates an antenna from external incident fields from specific directions. The focus of this research was to design and optimize the radome's constituent material parameters for maximizing the isolation between an interior receiver antenna and an exterior transmitter without signific...
متن کاملRadome Boresight Error and Compensation Techniques for Electronically Scanned Arrays
This paper describes work performed to evaluate precision beam control using an electronically scanned array antenna. The primary factors that limit beam pointing accuracy, both with and without a radome, are discussed. Laboratory measurements show the effects of a radome. Boresight errors and beamshape distortion were measured. Processes were evaluated that showed the capability to correct ang...
